Maybe I worry too much, or maybe I care too much..

A middle-aged homeless man stands on the corner asking for spare change. Week after week, I see this man with his used, sticky coffee cup with a few pennies and nickels. I didn't think much of it at first as I dropped a loonie (1$) in his cup, thinking maybe he just wanted his "quick-fix" or "drugs," but that's his choice, not mine.

This time I found him sleeping on a bench in front of the mall, wearing the same clothes and carrying the same rugged bag as we had seen weeks ago. I couldn't help but feel empathy for the poor man. So as we went in the mall to get some food, I bought a cheap burger from A&W but when we got out he was gone.

I ran down the street in my high heel sandals and my pink dress (yes, very lady-like ain't I?) and chased him down.

I asked him if he truely was homeless and gave me his sad story.

It turns out he was the product of rape, causing his family to cut him off. He can't get a job because of his epilepsy and his infected foot, doctors don't want to help treat it, for whatever reason.

I felt kinda bad, because he looked really sad about the situation he is in. He looked like he didn't want to have to accept the food, like he was sad about having people pity him. But he lightened up, knowing that there are some good-willed people out there and accepted my kindness. But inside, I wish there was more that we could do for these people, because life is hard.

I wanted to help him because he never harrassed anyone, or done anything to hassle people to give him money, he was a quite guy and he seemed like a good person. So that's why I decided to help him. He caused no trouble, and just wanted to get by.

Its true kindness will come around.
